Job Summary:
The Math Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in mathematics to 6-8th grade students. This role involves planning and implementing engaging lesson plans, assessing student performance, and fostering a positive learning environment. The Math Teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, communicate effectively with parents and guardians, and contribute to the overall success of the academic program.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Planning and Delivery:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and state standards.
- Use a variety of instructional methods and resources to engage students and accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Incorporate technology and digital tools to enhance the learning experience.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Design and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and tests.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
Classroom Management:
- Create and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a respectful and orderly setting.
- Address behavioral issues promptly and professionally.
Student Support:
- Offer additional support and resources to students who need extra help.
- Identify and address individual student needs and learning challenges.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to curriculum development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and practices.
Administrative Duties:
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development sessions.
- Prepare and submit reports, lesson plans, and other required documentation.
- Adhere to school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification in Mathematics for the relevant grade level.
- Experience: Previous teaching experience preferred, particularly in the relevant grade level and subject area.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of mathematical concepts and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans.
- Proficiency with technology and educational software.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the classroom.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and supplies.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a classroom environment with occasional visits to other school areas.
- May involve interaction with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders outside of regular classroom hours.
