Role Overview:
They are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent / Estimator to join their growing team specializing in high-end residential construction. This role oRers a unique opportunity to fast-track your career to a managerial then director-level position, based on performance and leadership potential. You will play a critical role in overseeing the purchasing process, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the seamless execution of construction projects by balancing cost eRiciency, timelines, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct competitive bidding processes across all construction scopes, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Award contracts through Purchase Orders to the most qualified vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable terms and maximize cost savings.
- Identify and recommend Value Engineering opportunities to improve project eRiciency and reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Regularly update proformas to reflect current market conditions, accounting for cost increases and decreases.
- Obtain custom pricing for specialty projects, high-end finishes, and bespoke materials, tailored to client needs.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and other team members to achieve common goals of on-budget, on-time project completion while maintaining the highest quality of work.
Qualifications & Education:
- 2+ years of experience in construction purchasing, estimating, or a related role, preferably in high-end residential construction.
- Strong negotiation skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Knowledge of market conditions and an ability to quickly adapt to cost fluctuations in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with Value Engineering principles and their application in high-end residential projects.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in construction software and Microsoft Office Suite.
