Please note we are looking for someone who is as interested in doing ETL and ELT data engineering work as they are in doing the data visualization work as well. This role covers both ends of the spectrum on a small, growing team.

Position Overview:
As a Data/BI Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining our data infrastructure, expanding Data Lake and Data Warehouse instances, and building robust ELT pipelines using MS Fabric and SQL Server. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that data integrity, governance, and availability are maintained across the organization. In addition to supporting stakeholders with data requests, you will create insightful dashboards and reports using PowerBI and SQL, while providing training and documentation to promote self-service BI usage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, expand, and maintain Data Lake and Data Warehouse instances and ELT pipelines in MS Fabric and SQL Server
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for data engineering implementations and provide training to stakeholders
- Support data requests from stakeholders, ensuring validation of reports through SQL and visualization tools like PowerBI
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports in PowerBI and SQL
- Work closely with stakeholders, data analysts, and third-party data engineers to implement business rules for data integrity and governance
- Participate in program implementation meetings to support the program management life cycle
- Assist with regulatory and bureau reporting, including NISS and other vendors on a quarterly basis
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering and Business Intelligence
- 3+ years of experience in the Insurance industry, with knowledge of industry concepts, practices, and procedures (P&C preferred)
- 3+ years working with Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft PowerBI, and Microsoft Azure
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and R
- Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to present concise reports to management
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

- Experience writing business requirements or acceptance criteria for development and implementation
- Enthusiastic, hardworking, and customer-focused with the ability to provide top-notch service
- Analytical mindset with the ability to ask the right questions to ensure requirements and acceptance criteria are well defined
