We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Compounding Pharmacy Operations to lead our team and help us set new standards in patient care and compounding excellence.
Position Summary:
The Chief Compounding Pharmacy Operations will play a critical role in establishing and overseeing the operations of our new compounding pharmacy. This position requires a seasoned leader with deep expertise in sterile compounding and a proven track record of managing pharmacy operations. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
- Oversee all aspects of the pharmacy’s operations, including the compounding process, quality control, and staff management.
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Compounding Expertise:
- Manage and execute sterile compounding procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including USP <797>, <800>, FDA guidelines, and state pharmacy laws.
- Oversee the development and preparation of customized compounded medications, maintaining rigorous quality assurance processes.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the pharmacy’s operations comply with all regulatory standards and accreditation requirements, including PCAB certification.
- Implement and oversee a robust quality control and quality assurance program to guarantee the safety, potency, and efficacy of all compounded medications.
Strategic Planning & Business Development:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute a strategic plan for the pharmacy’s growth.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for business development, including partnerships with healthcare providers and expansion into new markets.
- Monitor industry trends and advancements in compounding to ensure the pharmacy remains at the forefront of innovation.
Operational Oversight:
- Manage the pharmacy’s budget, including cost control, resource allocation, and financial forecasting.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the pharmacy’s facilities, equipment, and inventory management systems.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active pharmacist license in the state of Pennsylvania or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- PCAB certification or significant experience in a PCAB-accredited facility is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in sterile compounding.
- Proven leadership experience in a pharmacy setting, with a track record of managing operations, teams, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in a start-up or entrepreneurial environment is a plus.

- In-depth knowledge of sterile compounding practices, USP <797> and <800> standards, and FDA regulations.
