SUMMARY: The Director of Apparatus Sales will work collaboratively with company management to oversee sales activities and manage the Apparatus Sales Team. This position will require strong communication, planning, and leadership skills. Work will include both customer-facing and administrative activities. This position will be based out of Bradenton, FL but will require travel to manufacturers, conferences, and customer locations. With a wide range of job functions and responsibilities, flexibility, effective communication, and prioritization of work will be key to the overall success of the position.
The position reports directly to the Vice President of Apparatus Sales and works to establish strategies for increasing sales, supporting customers, and improving order management processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
- Manage, mentor, and motivate the sales team to ensure individual and team performance targets are met.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
- Partner with customers and sales team members to understand their business needs and objectives.
- Understand the competitive landscape and market trends.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of sales staff to enhance their skills and performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the sales team, encouraging feedback and implementing changes as needed.
- Manage the sales department budget, including forecasting expenditures and allocating resources effectively.
- Prepare regular reports on sales activities, progress, and performance for senior management.
- Maintain and manage relationships with key partners and stakeholders to ensure long-term collaboration.
- Oversee the implementation and management of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to track sales activities and customer interactions.
- Conduct regular analysis of competitors' strategies and market positioning to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis).
- Function as a product support contact for Pierce MFG, Frontline Communications, Oshkosh Airport, BME, Skeeter Emergency Vehicles, EJ Metals, and First Priority Group software/specification designs.
- Attend Florida Fire Conference, FDIC, Ten-8 Sales Meeting, Pierce Sales Meeting, and other conferences/meetings as directed.
- Continuously develop leadership skills to effectively manage and inspire the sales team.
- Maintain effective working relationships with other division leaders to ensure alignment and collaboration across departments.
- Other duties as assigned by executive leadership to accomplish the mission and vision of Ten-8.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) to seven (7) years of sales or industry experience preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics, algebra, and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form. Ability to resolve problems and recommend improvements in all areas of responsibility.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Preferred: Working knowledge of Pierce Pulse Software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
