Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Immunohistochemistry

Job Description:
The Gene Therapy group here is seeking to hire a Research Associate/Senior Research Associated to become an integral part of the gene therapy drug development effort. We seek candidates who think critically and have the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. A qualified candidate will have broad technical experience in immunohistochemistry and image analysis. In this position, you will play an integral role in characterizing the expression of transgenic constructs animal tissues and in vitro cellular models. You will develop and optimize protocols for antibody staining for detection of transgene and cell marker expression, as well as develop and perform quantitative image analysis methods.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in the biological sciences (e.g. Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Physiology, or related field) with 2-5 years of relevant postgraduate research experience in an industry setting.
- Creativity and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team to achieve technical and corporate milestones.
- Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Technical Requirements and Skills:
- Proven track record of developing and performing chromogenic and fluorescence immunohistochemistry staining, imaging, and analysis for multiple targets.
- Extensive experience with antibody screening and selection for reporter expression and cell-type identification.
- Experience working with multiple tissue preparations (FFPE, fixed-frozen, fresh-frozen, etc.) and multiple tissue types (mouse and NHP).
- Previous experience using high-throughput methods including autostainers (i.e. Leica Bond) and slide scanners (i.e. Evident VS200).
- Expertise with quantitative image analysis software including Visiopharm, HALO, Imaris, ImageJ, QuPath. Familiarity with image analysis automation is a plus.
- Experience in generating data summary plots (i.e. GraphPad Prism), as well as slide preparation and presentation.
- Ideal candidate will have familiarity with ELNs (i.e. Benchling), RNAscope/ISH, ddPCR, qPCR, Olink-based proteomics, MSD, protein isolation, Western blot.
- Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
