Position: Manager – Food Application & Technical Services
Client: Novaris search is supporting a leading, global manufacturer, of food and specialty ingredients who provide to several industries and providing a wide range of products to the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and industrial applications.
Role: This client is searching for a Food Application & Technical Services Manager to be responsible for delivering technical expertise and support across various business functions, including ingredient solutions, product development, commercialization, and strategic sales support.
Reporting to the Global Technical Director, the role facilitates cross-functional collaboration between the technical, sales, quality, and operations teams. Overseeing a team of 4-6 technical professionals, and will actively manage the technical services project pipeline, customer interactions, and product performance evaluations.
Location: Missouri, US
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical strategies aligned with sales objectives, aiming to drive growth in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
- Manage the U.S.-based technical services laboratory, ensuring all performance goals are achieved and technical support is aligned with business targets.
- Lead a team responsible for addressing application challenges and executing product performance tests.
- Collaborate with internal departments (formulation, operations, marketing, and sales) to prioritize and deliver technical projects.
- Provide technical expertise and product demonstrations during customer visits, trade shows, and sales events.
- Drive continuous improvement in technical processes and solutions in line with business goals.
- Guide the team in project management, focusing on food and beverage product solutions from concept to commercialization.
- Build strong relationships with key customer stakeholders, delivering timely, value-added solutions and ensuring superior customer service.
- Coordinate with the marketing department on prototype development and technical displays for trade shows and other marketing initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in food ingredients, with an emphasis on color and dehydrated product applications.
- Ensure all safety, quality, and regulatory compliance measures are adhered to, maintaining the highest standards in the lab and customer-facing projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience.
- Proven experience in food science, product development, and technical service leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in managing and developing technical teams.
- In-depth understanding of food processing, color science knowledge being an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to meet business needs.
