The Director, Safety & Risk Management is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of programs and activities that lead to the prevention of accidents, incidents and events that harm people, property, or the environment, through the direction and management of a staff of 1 to 2 associates (that are dedicated to the safety of teammates. Collaborates with managers and supervisors to maintain a corporate safety culture. Directs compliance with federal and industry regulations. Implements risk management initiatives with hands-on approach to accidents and auto liability situations. Investigate accidents and injuries, assign driver coaching opportunities, counsel drivers on unsafe acts, respond to serious accidents as they occur, maintain DOT register and DOT accident files. Will travel to terminal locations to meet with safety personnel on a quarterly basis and travel to safety related leadership seminars and conferences. Additionally, responsibilities include DOT compliance of drivers, equipment, and facilities, including training of personnel, electronic driver log compliance, accident management, DOT, OSHA, and EPA audit.
