Credit and Portfolio Manager
We are looking to add a credit manager who would be expected to underwrite and manage all aspects of risk management and collections within our portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and growing business at a senior level and will have the rewarding experience of having a direct and positive impact on the team around them and the customers we serve.
Responsibilities
The credit manager will be a member of the leadership team tasked with risk management and working towards the
strategies and goals of the company. They will be responsible for risk management policy, underwriting, collateral security, collections and asset recovery. Some of these responsibilities would include:
- Work with the President to set overall underwriting and risk management policy
- Review and underwrite new opportunities as well as review larger customer credits on an ongoing basis
- Follow up on credit applications with the various sales reps via phone or video calls to new applicants in order to assess new opportunities
- Provide direction and oversight to sales team with the structuring and pricing of loans
- Lead the collection team on a weekly/monthly basis to ensure prompt payment on all accounts
- Work diligently with customers to make plans to improve likelihood of full repayment as required
- Review various legal notices and work with the management team to mitigate risks through, receivership, bankruptcy and other issues
- Advise and work with attorneys as needed in order to make recoveries when necessary or address other legal
notifications
- Plan, schedule and execute repossessions when necessary
- Provide monthly and annual reporting internally and externally to our funding sources of the portfolio metrics
- Provide coaching and guidance to the sales and documentation team as required to meet our company goals
- Work with the president and sales manager to ensure that our sales strategies and credit policies are in sync
Preferred Qualifications
- Ambitious leader who wants to grow their career and that of the others they serve within the business
- At least 10 years experience in the banking, lending or equipment financing industry
- Solid understanding of the relationship between originations and portfolio quality management
- Takes pride in the positive impact they can have on the team around them and the customers they serve
- Professional with unquestioned integrity, character and business ethics
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in managing customer relationships
- Self-motivated with ability to complete projects in an efficient and timely manner
- Residency or willingness to relocate to the Grand Rapids, MI area
- Comfortable working within a small business and office space with a strong culture
