Maritime Outside Sales- Great Lakes
Please note this is remote with regional travel to visit maritime clientele. Must be based in a maritime centric area of the upper Midwest
The Maritime Outside Sales professional for the Great Lakes is responsible for overseeing sales efforts representing our products to ships owners and shipyards- representing products and services related to valves, actuators and steering systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of shipboard operations, will be networked within the local maritime industry and poised to sell to ships and shipyards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and expand assigned Shipyard and Ship Owner customer accounts across the Upper Midwest. Engage with existing clients and contacts.
- Partner with the greater sales team to drive growth in current and prospective accounts, including the offshore sector.
- Travel across Midwest regions to familiarize yourself with the market and contribute to the strategic development of the region. Develop insights on the market, key players, and competitors.
- Formulate and implement strategic sales initiatives in line with corporate objectives.
- Oversee sales forecasting and set performance targets accordingly.
- Analyze market trends to identify customer needs, pricing strategies, and discount structures.
- Conduct ship surveys as necessary by visiting customer vessels.
- Advise dealers, distributors, and clients on sales and advertising strategies.
- Review sales data to assist dealers in increasing sales and guide company policy.
- Streamline the product line by eliminating underperforming items.
- Represent the company at industry events and trade association meetings to promote products.
- Deliver sales presentations to key clients alongside sales representatives.
- Collaborate with sales representatives to maintain relationships with major clients, assist with negotiations, and close deals.
- Ensure coordination between the sales department and related units.
- Compile regular sales reports detailing sales performance, potential opportunities, and expansion plans.
- Participate in product research and development initiatives.
- Monitor competitor activities and products to stay competitive.
- Keep the company’s CRM system up-to-date with relevant information on customers, prospects, and industry contacts.
- Work closely with Branch Operations to ensure that customer needs are communicated and fulfilled.
- Contribute to ISO 9001 processes.
- Maintain daily communication with your sales director and the sales team.
