Job Summary:
The Design Associate plays a key role in the Design Studio operations in our Florida markets of Tampa and St. Petersburg. This position leads the options and selections process with current and prospective buyers, ensuring a top-tier design and customer experience. By collaborating with the Design Manager, Construction and Purchasing teams, the Design Associate helps deliver stylish products and options that meets customers needs. This role is also will collaborate with Design and Market Leadership to ensure Design Studio offerings with current trends and driving innovation within Onyx+East. Regular collaboration with sales, marketing, purchasing, and construction teams is vital to delivering a streamlined, exceptional home buying experience.
This is a part-time role, requiring 10-15 hours per week.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead Design Studio operations in Florida, leading the buyer selection process to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and team execution.
Deliver excellence in customer experience by building relationships, ensuring effective communication, setting clear expectations and creating a personalized design process for each buyer.
Collaborate with the corporate design and Florida purchasing teams to deliver trendy, cost-effective design options.
Assist in keeping the design database, Newstar, updated and functioning smoothly.
Assist Design Manager as needed with spec home finishes
Work with internal teams to segment standards and options across all product lines, delivering customer satisfaction in each segment.
Develop attractive design packages to streamline the selection process and increase margin opportunities.
Identify opportunities with Purchasing and Design Manager to grow revenue and option margins based on pricing and customer demand.
Oversee Design Studio product displays in coordination with vendors to ensure accurate customer demonstrations and up-to-date products.
Collaborate with the Purchasing Team to ensure accurate pricing and product listings in the Design Studio software.
Provide insights on customer feedback to enhance existing products and identify new opportunities based on consumer trends.
Assist with merchandising and staging of model or spec homes.
Work with the Marketing Team to ensure marketing materials are up to date.
Conduct regular site visits with the Sales Team to ensure design installations align with sales objectives.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of experience in a design studio or interior design role.
Proficiency in various technology platforms with the ability to learn new systems quickly; Newstar software knowledge is a plus.
Strong design knowledge, particularly regarding residential design trends.
Understanding of common construction materials and finishes used in homebuilding as well as how to read floor plans & construction drawings
Excellent customer service skills and a passion for working in customer-facing roles.
