Our client, a prominent player in the commercial real estate finance sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join their team. This role involves leading the underwriting and evaluation of senior debt investments across a range of markets and asset types. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of risk management, loan structuring, and financial analysis, ensuring adherence to established underwriting policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the assessment and underwriting of senior debt investments, focusing on maximizing risk-adjusted returns while ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and loan structures.
- Manage all stages of the underwriting process, including market analysis, tenant evaluations, sponsor assessments, and general contractor reviews. Organize and facilitate weekly discussions with borrowers to keep the due diligence process on track.
- Articulate and comprehend complex capital structures involving mezzanine debt, preferred equity, opportunity zone investments, seller financing, loan-on-loan arrangements, and senior debt facilities.
- Review and analyze third-party due diligence reports such as appraisals, environmental assessments, property condition evaluations, and cost reviews.
- Examine loan agreements and other legal documents pertinent to transactions.
- Utilize Excel for underwriting and financial modeling, and navigate ARGUS models with proficiency.
- Conduct property inspections as required.
- Collaborate with teams across origination, asset management, servicing, and closing functions.
- Mentor and guide junior analysts and associates within the underwriting team.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years Commercial Real Estate Underwriting Experience
- Management Experience
- Bachelors Degree or higher education
