As a VECCS Level 1 emergency/critical care facility, our Emergency and Critical Care department is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed with highly skilled veterinarians and support staff committed to delivering exceptional medical care to pets in critical and emergency situations. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate *Licensed Veterinary Technician* to join our esteemed Emergency and Critical Care Department, working alongside our board-certified Veterinary Specialists.
*Job Summary:* We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team. The LVT will support veterinarians in providing advanced emergency and critical care to our patients, ensuring high-quality medical treatment and compassionate care. This position requires excellent technical skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
*Responsibilities*:
* Assist our our team of specialists in providing specialized care to critically ill and injured patients.
* Administer treatments, medications, and intravenous therapies as directed.
* Monitor and record patient vital signs, fluid therapy, and responses to treatments.
* Perform laboratory tests, including bloodwork, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures.
* Assist with diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays, ultrasounds, and CT scans.
* Provide support during medical procedures, surgeries, and emergencies.
* Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient.
* Educate and communicate with pet owners about treatment plans, at-home care, and follow-up instructions.
* Collaborate with a skilled team of veterinary professionals to deliver comprehensive care to our patients.
* Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment and ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
*Requirements:*
* Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in emergency and critical care settings.
* Strong knowledge of emergency veterinary medicine and critical care procedures.
* Proficient in venipuncture, catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide empathetic and informative client interactions.
* Ability to handle high-stress situations with composure and focus.
* Detail-oriented and capable of accurate record-keeping and documentation.
* Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
