We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Costing & Product Engineering to join our dynamic team at Marc Fisher, a leading footwear company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring cost efficiency and maintaining high-quality standards in partnership with the design team, from conceptualization through to production. Working closely with brand SVP to maximize business opportunities and liaison with the customer on all aspects of pricing, production planning and scheduling. This position will report to the Vice President of Production from our Greenwich, CT headquarters on a hybrid schedule - 3 days in office/2 days remote.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the customer as well as design, manufacturing, sales and overseas partners to develop product strategies that meet consumer demands and market trends.
- Manage the product costing process, including analyzing materials, labor, and overhead costs to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate pricing to optimize sourcing and manufacturing partnerships.
- Align with Production counterparts on delivery needs and manage deadlines with manufacturing in mind to achieve. Create and maintain milestone calendar from prototype to production hand-off.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, streamline processes, and reduce costs.
- Work with the design and development team in creating footwear designs that align with the brand and target customer.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in product development and costing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and other external partners to support business objectives.
- Develop a strong partnership with the product development team to give guidance to foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of at least 7 years in product development and costing within the footwear industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in product lifecycle management, including design, sourcing, costing, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic decisions to drive profitability.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve goals and objectives.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering high-quality products that exceed customer expectations.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software applications, such as Microsoft Office, CAD/CAM software, and ERP systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or a related field.
