Devops Test Engineer
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Devops Test Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing automated tests to ensure the quality of our software products. You will work closely with the development team to identify and resolve defects, ensuring that our applications meet the highest standards of performance, functionality, and reliability.
The Work
- Test Automation: Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using tools like Selenium,TestCafe, Cypress, or similar. Focus on creating reusable and scalable test frameworks that ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Infrastructure and Deployment Automation: Work with developers to design and implement infrastructure-as-code solutions for managing environments and software deployments.
- Test Planning and Execution: Work with cross-functional teams to understand the software requirements, create detailed test plans, and execute tests to validate functionality, performance, and security.
- Defect Management: Identify, document, and track defects through their lifecycle, working closely with developers to resolve issues and ensure high-quality releases.
- Continuous Integration: Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring that tests are run consistently and efficiently as part of the build process.
- Regression Testing: Perform regression testing to ensure that new features do not negatively impact existing functionality. Regularly update automated test suites to reflect changes in the software.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the development process. Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on testability and quality.
- Test Reporting: Generate detailed reports on test results, coverage, and quality metrics. Communicate findings to stakeholders and provide recommendations for improvements.
Who You Are and What You Have
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA engineering and Devops, with a focus on test automation.
- Location: Open to fully remote candidates, but a strong preference for those within a 1-hour commute of our office in Hartselle, AL.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Javascript.Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, TestCafe, Cypress, or similar). Experience with Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies.
- QA Expertise: Solid experience in writing and executing test plans and test cases. Knowledge of performance and security testing is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with mobile application testing, web testing and API testing.
- Experience with Devops operations in the AWS cloud environment.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools and techniques.
- Certification in QA or automation (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) is a plus, but is not required.
