Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and community-oriented Internal or Family Medicine Physician to serve as a Collaborating and Supervising Physician for our Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). The ideal candidate will be a teaching physician with a passion for mentorship and a commitment to serving the community. We are specifically looking for a physician who is not currently running a private practice but is focused on making a meaningful impact through education and collaborative care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaboration and Supervision: Provide clinical supervision and collaborate with the Family Nurse Practitioner in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients. Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices and established protocols.
- Review of Clinical Cases: Conduct periodic reviews of patient charts and cases handled by the FNP. Offer feedback, recommendations, and approve treatment plans as necessary.
- Consultation: Be available for consultations regarding complex cases, medication management, and treatment plans. Provide guidance on clinical decisions as needed.
- Education and Training: Mentor and support the FNP’s professional development. Participate in ongoing education and training initiatives to ensure the FNP remains up-to-date with the latest medical practices and protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all collaborative practices comply with state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines. Assist in maintaining proper documentation required for regulatory compliance.
- Patient Care: Depending on the arrangement, provide direct patient care as necessary. This may include seeing patients independently or alongside the FNP in complex cases.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance programs and contribute to the continuous improvement of patient care services. Ensure the maintenance of high standards in patient care.
- Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with the FNP and other healthcare team members. Foster a collaborative environment that promotes patient-centered care.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all collaborative activities, consultations, and supervision in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Qualifications:
- Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Licensure: Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of [Your State].
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical experience in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Experience supervising or collaborating with nurse practitioners is preferred.
- Certification: Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Skills: Strong clinical skills with the ability to mentor and support nurse practitioners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing nurse practitioner practice.
