Position Overview:
The Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment used in our chemical manufacturing processes. This role requires a strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, valves, mixers, and control systems.
- Electrical Systems: Inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems and components, such as motors, transformers, circuit breakers, and wiring, to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Mechanical Systems: Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, and other mechanical components.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs or replacements to minimize production downtime and maintain a safe work environment.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and other safety regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status, in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements and work with the maintenance team to implement changes that enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production and engineering teams to support plant operations and ensure smooth production processes.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, providing technical expertise to restore operations as quickly as possible.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical or mechanical maintenance is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
- Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and other control systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, including OSHA standards and chemical handling procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support plant operations.
