*Job Summary: *The physical therapy assistant will play a pivotal role in maximizing a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals through treatment implementation, education, and communication with supervision of a registered physical therapist. The physical therapy assistant will help restore function, reduce pain and prevent disability following disease or injury in accordance with the principles and practices of physical therapy and within Harvest Health and Rehab policies and procedures. The physical therapy assistant will also establish rapport with patients/families, staff and physicians to maintain a positive working relationship.
*Duties/Responsibilities but not limited to :*
* Provide direct patient care with quality and evidence based care and proven interventions
* Document patient progress towards meeting established goals
* Instruct and guide patients for appropriate exercise technique and establish a home exercise program for maintenance prior to discharge
* Use a multitude of treatment options including but not limited to exercises, stretching, equipment, modalities, hands-on manual therapy and more to manage patient's pain, increase mobility, and prevent further pain and injury
* Educate patient and family members
* Work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines and communicate effectively
* Monitor effects of treatment and communicate progress with supervising physical therapist
* Conduct therapy services within scope of practice
* Practice company and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
* Provide direction and leadership to staff and act as a resource to promote physical therapy in the community
* Enhance professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops while keeping up to date on professional literature
* Maintain an active physical therapy assistant license

*Qualifications*/*Education/Experience:*
* Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy
* Active state of Indiana physical therapy license or able to obtain one.
*Physical Requirements:*
* Duties require extensive standing and walking
* Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients
* Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
