Senior System Administrator/DBA (SQL Server, AWS) – Contract (Remote, EST/CST)

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to join our team on a contract basis, with the flexibility to work remotely in EST or CST. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in SQL Server High Availability, cloud networking, and Database Administration (DBA). This role requires hands-on experience with AWS and cloud operations, with a focus on system reliability, performance, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage SQL Server High Availability environments, including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Oversee and maintain cloud networking infrastructure, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable operations.
- Perform Database Administration (DBA) tasks including installation, upgrades, backups, recovery, and performance tuning of SQL Server databases.
- Manage and optimize cloud environments, particularly in AWS, ensuring efficient cloud operations and cost management.
- Develop and implement strategies for disaster recovery and business continuity within the cloud environment.
- Collaborate with internal teams to plan, execute, and manage database and cloud-related projects, including migrations, upgrades, and performance enhancements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to databases, networks, and cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices within cloud and database systems.
Qualifications:
- 3-4 years of professional experience with AWS and cloud operations.
- Proven expertise in SQL Server High Availability (AlwaysOn, Clustering, Replication).
- Strong understanding of cloud networking principles, including VPNs, VPCs, load balancing, and security groups.
- Experience with Database Administration (DBA) tasks such as performance tuning, backup strategies, recovery procedures, and storage management.
- Hands-on experience with cloud operations including monitoring, cost management, and optimization, preferably within AWS.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
Requirements:
- Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) remotely within EST or CST time zones.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and operate under a W2 employment arrangement.
- No C2C or third-party vendors will be considered for this role.
