What World Course Is
The World Course at Avenues draws on the disciplines of history and the social sciences to help students understand the challenges and opportunities of the world around them--and the context for those challenges. It is uniquely focused on preparing future leaders to tackle global-scale problems. A core academic program at Avenues, the World Course asks students to understand the world through a variety of lenses. Students examine the cultures, behaviors, successes, and conflicts among and between people, and explore the root causes and results of human interactions with other humans, with ideas, and with the environment.
What You’ll Do
World Course teachers guide students to become informed, skilled, and empathetic agents of change. Through a range of approaches--including historical thinking skills, design thinking, and project-based work across multiple disciplines--we equip students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to make a difference in the world.

- ensure students achieve key learning outcomes by targeting instruction to address individual student needs
