Job Description
- Experience in design implementation and testing of carrier-based technologies in support of data center network infrastructure, Carrier inside and outside plant fiber backbone infrastructure, Telco conduit and riser infrastructure, Carrier manhole right of way, Inside riser infrastructure, Inside plant fiber requirements.
- Fiber designs to ensure no single points of failure exists within the fiber routes central offices local long distance and optical wavelength equipment.
- Technical experience for installation pretest and migration of production services:
- DWDM, MPLS, Ethernet Private Line, TNS, Hybrid Cloud technologies and providers, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle, IBM
- Hands on knowledge of data center structured cabling
- Optical, Single Mode Fiber, Multimode Fiber, Electrical, Cat6 copper
- Basic troubleshooting skills and expertise to identify issues within telco infrastructure:
- Service provider checks, Carrier loopback checks, IP configuration checks, Ping and trace route tracert testing, Cisco command line tools, Document, review identify and maintain Carrier Infrastructure, documentation, Carrier AsBuilts, KMZ files, Inventories, Experience with colocation data center infrastructure, Equinix, Colocation cross connect, CoLo Operations support, Extranet providers, Radianz, Transaction Network Services TNS, IPC
- Generate test plans or scripts detailing network related configurations
- Create turnover documentation and update all Client inventory systems with the new install information
- Perform system level documentation on Client platforms and assist in project tracking and documentation
- Deinstallation and clean up all legacy telco devices and ensure all systems in the environment have been removed
- Must be willing to work in client green zone times which are weeknights and weekend 1200am to 600am EST to support network changes
Technical Skills
- In depth knowledge of Telecomm Carrier Transport networks and technologies with the ability to review select and implement the appropriate technology to meet business requirements.
- Experience managing Carrier outside inside plant infrastructure designs to ensure no single points of failure exists within the fiber routes central offices local long distance and electrical optical equipment utilized to deliver services to meet business requirements.
- Basic knowledge of Carrier based installation and acceptance testing
- Support Carrier technical solution pretest and migration to production activities
- Knowledge and hands on experience working with carrier based optical DWDM and legacy SONET technologies - 10Gb and 100Gb wavelengths, Legacy OC192 and OC48 platforms, Telco and data center structured cabling fiber optics specs.
- Basic working knowledge of layer2 and 3 Cisco router and switch platforms
- Review, identify and document Carrier Infrastructure at the Clifton and Rutherford locations and assist with decommissioning and migration of said infrastructure
- Complete turnover documentation and update all client systems with the new install information
- Clean up all legacy devices and ensure all systems in the environment have been properly decommissioned
- Maintain system level documentation inventories on client platforms and assist in project tracking
