SR.CAD Designer (CATIA) - Adaptability and Innovation in Product Design
Our client is seeking a skilled CAD Designer (CATIA) who can adapt to change easily and bring innovative solutions to both products and processes. This individual will collaborate with customers, working on projects involving coolant modules, coolant valves, heat exchangers, intake manifolds, and cam covers. This role supports our North America team and reports directly to the Design Manager located the Rochester Hills, MI.
SR.CAD Designer (CATIA) RESPONSIBILITIES
· Create CATIA models as directed by the Product Engineer.
· Ensure CATIA models are accurate, high-quality, and suitable for manufacturing.
· Proficient in CATIA R32: Able to model complex parts, including intricate surface definitions.
· Familiarity with Ford Teamcenter, drawing creation, and standards.
· Comprehend design functions as explained by the Product Engineer; ask questions to ensure a thorough understanding.
· Meet timing requirements set by the Engineer or Supervisor; proactively communicate any CAD-related timing concerns.
· Apply appropriate GD&T principles, stack-ups, and methodologies in the design process.
· Create part drawings with correct GD&T methodology as requested by the Product Engineer.
· Stay up-to-date on the latest CATIA CAD software functionalities and methods.
· Understand the impact of injection molding on part design, ensuring parts are manufacturable.
· Willingness to assist other Designers with CAD and design-related issues.
· Requires minimal support from Engineers on CAD and CATIA software-related issues.
· Potential for occasional international travel.
· Demonstrate team spirit, enthusiasm, and critical thinking to maximize function, cost savings, and efficiency during the design phase.
SR.CAD Designer (CATIA) REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor's degree and/or 4+ years of relevant experience preferred.
· Experience with CATIA CAD software to create accurate models.
· Proficient in using proper design tree methodology, allowing models to be worked on by multiple designers.
· Understands the function and design of parts.
· Knowledge of GD&T principles, stack-ups, and methods throughout the design phase, including part drawing layouts.
· Fundamental understanding of injection molding, tool design, and the implications of using plastic as the base material.
· Strong grasp of product design principles and problem-solving techniques.
· Good interpersonal skills for effective communication with engineers, customers, suppliers, and peers.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and make informed decisions efficiently.
· Ability to demonstrate technical design competency during the interview.
· Experience in intake manifold and cam cover design is an asset but not required.
· EV Battery pack design experience is an asset but not required.
· Opportunity for in-house Unigraphics cross-training.
