We are seeking a Media Strategist to join our team in a freelance, project-based capacity, who is passionate about creative media partnerships and pushing the limits on where and how a brand’s message shows up in the world. Invisible North doesn’t buy the pre-existing, we create the non-existent. We use data and insights to develop custom, culturally-relevant media strategies to drive impact for people and build equity for brands.
The ideal candidate is someone who is constantly engaging in culture, is eager to learn about new technologies & platforms, and has a strong understanding of how to develop unique ideas through data & insights. This candidate will be responsible for creating media strategies to assist in our clients’ business goals while demonstrating autonomy in all aspects of campaign execution, management, and performance. The Media Strategist will report to our Creative and Production Teams. Additionally, this role will positively contribute to making Invisible North’s culture an envy of the industry, a studio that turns out jaw dropping creative and design and does so by upholding an inclusive, flexible and giving work environment.
While our main office is located in DUMBO Brooklyn, we work as a distributed team with members reaching from Maine to LA, and everywhere in between. This position is contracted on a project basis, remote or hybrid (NYC), and should expect to work on ET hours.
Roles + Responsibilities
- Planning and buying across all media channels; custom media partnerships
- Monitor trends and opportunities throughout paid media environments and apply to strategies
- Think strategically and proactively about client goals
- Develop RFPs, media plans, strategies, and market intelligence
- Campaign management including: proofs, optimization recommendations, reporting, wrap reports
- Craft insights through data to assist in optimizations and future client campaigns
- Work collaboratively with project teams, strategy & design department, hired contractors, agency teams, and clients
- Manage all aspects of client investment: Media authorizations, Insertion Orders, Monthly Reconciliation, Billing
- Coordinate with legal and finance teams in order to make sure campaign elements are within legal guardrails, finance policies, and budget management
Skills + Qualifications
- Able to successfully work remotely during EST hours, or from our NYC office
- Must have a minimum of 3 - 4 years of industry experience in media planning & buying
- Experience with media planning and buying tools
- Previous work leading the strategy and execution of a variety of media programs
- Experience with cross-channel strategy, including but not limited to: Online video, Display, Social, and OOH
- Experience w/ performance media a plus (including programmatic & paid social)
- Passion for pop culture, consumer trends, and understanding audience behavior & consumption
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Be organized, creative, outgoing, solutions-oriented, and have a great work ethic and attitude
- Work well in a fast-paced environment while managing up to Director; ability to work efficiently
- Able to find ways to be flexible in order to execute programs alongside a team
- Ability to successfully multitask, and take ownership on assigned projects
- Strong relationship & negotiation skills with media partners, vendors, and measurement partners
- Able to travel to project locations and the IN Office as needed (if remote)
- Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed for specific projects (and to be made up with compensatory time off)
Compensation
Hourly rate: $80-115/hr
