We are partnered with a leading fund in the commodities trading industry, who have experienced tremendous growth in recent years and are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commodities Trade Operations Lead to join their dynamic team and drive the efficiency of our trading operations. This individual will focused on assisting the trading teams across Energy & Agricultural Products.
Role Overview: The Commodities Trade Operations Lead will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our commodities trading desk. This role involves managing trade processing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, optimizing operational workflows, and leading a team of operations professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commodities trading operations, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trade Processing & Settlement: Oversee and ensure accurate and timely processing of commodity trades from execution through to settlement. Monitor trade confirmations, reconcile discrepancies, and manage trade allocations.
- Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency. Develop and manage operational workflows to ensure seamless trade execution and settlement.
- Systems & Technology: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of trading and operations systems. Work closely with IT and software vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure system reliability.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with traders, risk managers, finance, and other departments to address operational issues and support trading strategies. Communicate effectively with external parties, including brokers and clearinghouses.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate and analyze reports on trade performance, operational metrics, and risk exposure. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in commodities trading operations, with a proven track record of managing trade operations
- Skills: Strong knowledge of commodities markets, trade lifecycle, and settlement processes. Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in trading systems and financial software.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
