Position Summary:
The Water Treatment Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of water treatment facilities to ensure safe and efficient water treatment processes. This role involves supervising a team of operators and technicians, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and maintaining the quality of water services provided to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of water treatment facilities.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of water treatment operators and technicians.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for water treatment processes.
- Operations and Maintenance:
- Monitor water treatment processes and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate and perform regular maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that water quality meets all regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Conduct regular inspections and water quality testing.
- Maintain accurate records of water treatment processes and quality data.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to water treatment.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and the public.
- Prepare and submit required regulatory reports.
- Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and manage the budget for the water treatment facility.
- Order and maintain inventory of chemicals, supplies, and spare parts.
- Develop and present reports on facility performance and projects.
- Customer Service:
- Address customer inquiries and complaints related to water quality.
- Provide education and outreach to the community about water treatment processes and conservation.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications in water treatment operations (e.g., Class IV Water Operator License).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in water treatment operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with the operation and maintenance of various water treatment technologies.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Proficient in the use of computer software related to water treatment operations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
- The position requires working in a water treatment plant environment, which may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals, noise, and varying weather conditions.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- On-call availability for emergency situations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders for extended periods.
