Job Title: Estimator – Commercial Construction (Box Retail)
Location: North Carolina
Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 plus Benefits & Bonus
Company Overview: Our client is a well-established commercial construction firm specializing in the construction of large-scale box retail units throughout North Carolina. They are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team, who will play a key role in delivering accurate cost estimates and budgets for upcoming projects. Experience in civil works is a plus.
Job Description: As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, specifically focusing on box retail units. You will work closely with the project management and pre-construction teams to ensure all aspects of the project are accounted for in the estimate. Civil construction experience is desirable as the company often handles projects with small-scale site work requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information.
- Analyze historical data, pricing trends, and market conditions to ensure competitive and accurate bids.
- Provide value engineering solutions to optimize project costs.
- Assist in preparing bid packages and participate in pre-bid meetings.
- Monitor and update estimates as project scope and design changes occur.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in estimating within the commercial construction sector, with a focus on retail or similar large-scale projects.
- Knowledge of civil construction is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, costs, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., ProEst, Sage, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
