A leading independent school in Dallas is seeking a part-time HRIS/Payroll Specialist to adeptly analyze, maintain, and evaluate the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and process semi-monthly Payroll.
This role includes auditing system performance, end-user activities, data integrity, and communicating with IT and third-party vendors to resolve any issues. The ideal candidate will offer system expertise, ensuring thorough setup and training for employees, and will coordinate all HRIS-related processes encompassing Applicant Tracking, New Hire Onboarding Compliance, Benefits, Performance Management, and Payroll workflows.
Key Accountabilities:
- Payroll Management: Process semi-monthly payroll, update payroll records, ensure timesheets are completed and approved, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- HRIS Administration: Serve as an HRIS subject matter authority, identifying and resolving data integrity issues while providing end-user support and training.
- Data Integrity: Conduct internal audits and analyze data flows to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Third-Party Coordination: Prepare and collaborate with third-party vendors for bulk data uploads related to Benefit Open Enrollment, merit increases, and other projects.
- Compliance and Records: Perform pre-employment background checks, process onboarding compliance-documentation, and establish/maintain personnel records, files, and reports.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee day-to-day benefits plans, including enrollment, billing, claims disputes, and employee communication. Assist with annual open enrollment and support 403b and cafeteria plan non-discrimination testing.
- PTO and Leave Management: Oversee paid time off and all leave programs (e.g., FMLA), Handle worker's compensation and unemployment claims.
- Termination Processes: Process terminations, including associated forms, reports, records, and COBRA administration.
- Training and Communication: Train new hires and employees on benefit plans and communicate with benefit providers as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on internal and external audits, recommend corrective actions, and implement approved changes.
- Review requests for system improvements. Participate in testing HRIS implementations and improvement projects.
- Enroll employees in and supervise trainings and certifications.
- Order and post workplace compliance posters, ensuring documentation is up-to-date.
Qualifications:
- Authorization to work in the U.S. with verification documents.
- Successful completion of Criminal Background Checks, reference checks, and Drug Testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 7+ years of equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years processing payroll in an enterprise HRIS/payroll system.
- Outstanding communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Effective problem-solving abilities.
- Strong initiative, multi-tasking capability, good judgment, and minimal need for supervision.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion, maintaining compliance with information security and privacy policies.
- 2+ years of experience with Paycom Payroll/HRIS similar enterprise Payroll/HRIS system required.
Work Environment:
This position follows HR standard processes and HRIS procedures with minimal direction but requires collaboration with the Controller for deviations from standard procedures. The role is part-time and tailored for HRIS/Payroll professionals seeking flexibility while contributing significantly to the school’s HR operations.
