JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under supervision, the Research Scientist will assist in carrying out research activities related to laboratory/translational research aimed at improving therapeutic studies in nephrology and related fields. This position offers an excellent opportunity to enhance research skills by working with a diverse team of researchers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct metabolomics analyses of biological specimens using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), including design, setup, sample preparation, sample analysis, data collection, data analysis, and interpretation of research findings.
- Perform various laboratory tests using hematology analyzer, biochemistry analyzer, liquid handler, flow cytometer, plate reader, real time polymerase chain reaction.
- Follow general instructions and standard operating procedures to independently conduct experiments and complete routine laboratory work.
- Manage samples of the biobank, which contains thousands of biospecimen.
- Collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines, including clinicians, clinical research coordinators, data analysts, mathematicians, engineers, and statisticians.
- Write abstracts and manuscripts and present findings to an international, diverse audience.
EDUCATION:
- Master’s or PhD Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or related sciences required. Advanced degree desirable.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Hands-on experience with metabolomics, other omics is good to have.
- Prior publications are a plus.
- Must demonstrate ability to take independent initiative.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to generate value-added solutions.
