Electrical Engineering Specialist Role and Responsibilities.
This Hybrid position will support the reliable operations of our Industrial Electrical Equipment in our Company-owned and operated facilities in North America.
This key role will report to our Manager of Electrical Engineering at our Global Headquarters in Allentown, PA.
Scope of responsibilities include:
- Provide technical assistance to field personnel in the areas of high voltage distribution equipment and high voltage motors/generators.
- Respond and provide technical assistance to electrical equipment problems within the company-owned facilities.
- Direct and oversee vendor shop repairs on high voltage motors and other equipment for quality assurance.
- Issue repair reports at the conclusion of critical jobs for proper historical documentation.
- Identify engineered solutions to recurring electrical issues.
- Improve plant/equipment reliability through historical trending and improved maintenance procedures.
- Lead and participate in root cause analysis (RCA).
- Execute equipment maintenance strategies (predictive and preventive).
- Ensure adherence to internal and national standards when specifying and maintaining equipment.
- Review and approve engineering documents on plant upgrade projects.
- Support training, coaching, and mentoring of electrical field technicians and operations staff in the safe operation and preventative maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
- 100 % compliance with Safety and Environmental standards.
- Program protective relays with settings developed in systems analysis software.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
- Experience in operations and maintenance of large industrial plants is required.
- Proficiency in programming and gathering event information from protective relays is required.
- Main vendors in use are SEL and GE Multilin
- Working knowledge of SKM Power Tools for Windows engineering software is preferred.
- Experience in other software modeling packages such as ETAP will be considered.
- Proficiency in creating safe work permits and HV Lock-out/Tag-out orders is required.
- Experience specifying, reviewing, and approving HV substation equipment, transformers, HV and LV motors and Generators, Motor control centers, Variable frequency drives, Station Battery, and UPS systems is preferred.
- Flexibility and ability to travel in North America up to 25%.
Education and Licensing Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or 6 to 8 years of experience as a qualified electrical worker in an industrial facility.
