Our client ("Company"), a cannabis company with retail operations, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to drive financial strategy and growth.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. This individual will collaborate with the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy and operations.
Must be based in Michigan. Cannabis and/or retail industry and M&A experience required.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance, implement, and enforce policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of Company.
- Responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships.
- Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends.
- Participate in the development of Company’s strategic plans and programs as a member of the senior leadership team.
- Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs / strategies and regulatory action.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting Company.
- Oversee accounting and accounts payable and foster best practices across Company.
- Manage assets and annual CAPEX allocations.
- Oversee external audit compliance and assist with deliverables.
- Provide advice related to effective decision-making related to cost of capital.
- Provide data, reporting, and support for investor relations initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Successful career trajectory in finance with a focus on M&A.
- Cannabis and/or retail industry experience.
- Successful track record of building finance teams from the top seat.
- Driven by digging in and affecting positive change.
- Managing relationships with lenders and banks.
- Michigan-based.
Desired Qualifications:
- CFO experience at a start up.
- Master's degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
- CPA or CFA.
