Thanks for stopping by to take a look at the PM role I posted here on LinkedIN.
Allow me to introduce myself. I am actual real live person writing JD's on a Sunday afternoon. So, no bots, no AI... I also like to add some humor to these job descriptions, so if you see something that makes you chuckle, that was the intent. Yep, there is still humor out there that someone can express without feeling they might get cancelled. So, let's keep it light.
If you are an external vendor, for the love of all that is good and pure, please do not call me saying you have an 'excellent candidate'....I am not working with external vendors that simply want to empty their bench or recruit candidates for this role.
As with just about every role I work on, soft skills are just about as important as those hard skills. As my favorite author, Tom Peters says 'soft is hard...hard is soft'. So, what are those soft skills we are seeking?
Well, I am glad you asked. You will be working with a client of mine that I have known for going on 8-9 years or so. He is the Director of IT & Integration Projects for this organization. A couple things about him...he is easy going, driven without being a tyrant about it, but expects that you want to do your best work. He isn't a fan of excessive drama (well...who is, right?)...so, if you think you are the greatest PM who ever lived, please go work for Congress instead...I hear they have extremely high opinions of themselves as well and you would probably fit right in.
This role is being done in a hybrid manner. However, we are really only looking to work with candidates within driving distance to Brookfield, Illinois. There are going to be times where you will spend 5 days a week onsite, and there are weeks where you will probably spend 2 days a week onsite. If you first and really only concern is 'how much time onsite?'...we probably wont have a fit for this role. I think of it this way...we are asking you to act like an adult. There are times where it will be more important to be onsite...there are times where you can make the determination for yourself that you can work remotely. This all depends on stakeholders you will interact with, those important 'gotta be there' meetings and so on. This is why I mentioned that if your main question is 'how much time onsite?', we won't have a fit for this one.
Here is what we are seeking. We are seeking that Project Manager that also has a bit of those 'classic' BA skills. By this, I mean that we are seeking that person that can track deliverables, resource allocation and budgetary guidelines, along with that ability to gather & refine requirements, document those requirements, create those wonderful process flow diagrams, go through that fantastic world of UAT and so on.
Here is what you will be doing....This particular client uses Raiser's Edge for fundraising and, as those in nonprofits know, Raiser's Edge does not have a great 'experience management' aspect to it's product offerings. So, you will be working with this firm (this is where the requirements gathering, documentation, process flow diagramming experience, etc...) with regards to creating an RFP for a replacement of Raiser's Edge. This initial process will take about a year. You will be playing a key role (with the Director of IT and Integration Projects) with gathering the requirements, working on the process flows, estimating budgets, resource allocation and so on for the replacement of their fundraising platform with something that includes that fundraising piece, along with the entire process of experience management and CRM. In other words, working with the entire process of the first time a guest purchases a ticket (or return customer purchases a ticket) to an event, through the entire CRM and engagement process. There was a Project Manager that was working on high level documentation for this project that was promoted to another role. So, you will have some previously created documentation that you can work off of.
As you might have guessed, this client is a nonprofit. So, if you have nonprofit experience as a PM, that would be fantastic to see. You will also, more than likely, working with C level execs with this client as well. So, that 'presence' or caliber of individual that can work with that level of executive will also be needed for success in this role.
Here is what we are seeking in this role:
- At least 8 years of PM experience. This experience will need to be IT Applications in focus. Granted, not all 8 years needs to be in the app space, but this client will be asking specific questions with regards to your ability to handle app dev specific projects.
- Experience with customer experience or CRM projects as a PM.
- Solid BA experience...this should include requirements gathering, documentation, process flow diagramming and UAT experience.
