Quality Assurance Supervisor
Location: Manteno, IL
Shift: M-F, 5AM to 3PM or 6AM to 4PM
Pay: $65K - $75K annually
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in quality assurance within the food manufacturing industry, ideally in pizza production.
- Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, and other food safety regulations.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all quality assurance functions within the plant, including sanitation, work-in-process (WIP) and finished product inspections, package integrity testing, and ensuring compliance with HACCP, GMP, and process control protocols.
- Conduct and manage plant audits focused on GMPs, sanitation, and regulatory compliance, working closely with management to implement improvements.
- Supervise HACCP plans and records, ensuring daily documentation is reviewed and complies with critical control points (CCPs) and quality control points (QCPs).
- Monitor daily in-process values to verify adherence to customer specifications.
- Provide daily production quality reports to the management team.
- Manage the Hold & Release program, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.
- Conduct mock recalls to validate the effectiveness of the product recall strategy.
- Immediately report any food safety or quality concerns to Plant and QA management.
- Investigate and report issues, developing corrective action plans in collaboration with Plant and QA management.
- Manage QC lab inventory and oversee submission of samples to third-party labs for external analysis.
- Perform routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished products, and stability samples.
- Provide GMP, HACCP, Food Defense, and Food Safety training for QC technicians, contractors, and temporary staff.
- Maintain comprehensive records for all prerequisite programs to ensure ongoing training and adherence to quality standards.
- Assist technicians in resolving complex quality assurance issues, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate quality assurance considerations into broader operational strategies.
