Somat Engineering, Inc. (Somat) has an immediate opening for a Civil Project Engineer in our West Bloomfield, Michigan, office and Brooklyn Heights, Ohio office. We are seeking an energetic, personable, and experienced engineer who is interested in growing their career in this field.

We are looking for a Civil Project Engineer that brings strong technical skills, solution-oriented knowledge, and collaborative attitudes that seeks to apply great creativity to projects. They will collaborate closely with other engineers and project managers to translate creative vision into functional designs and processes. Some of the types of activities that they will be involved with are:
- Design Plans for storm water, sanitary, watermain, pavement, and grading design for site and subdivision plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Permitting, RFI and shop drawing review
- Production of utility, site civil, SESC, and as built plans
- Writing and review project specifications
- Coordination of survey activities and Civil Engineering design plans
- Cost estimates, bid letting, and contracting documents
- Preparation of proposals
- Document creation with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans
- Project Coordination
- Other activities as directed by Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
- This position will require some out-of-town work assignments depending on the project requirements.
Qualifications:
- 2 to 4 years of civil engineering experience in the private and public sectors
- BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to shifting real world conditions
- Demonstrates motivation to modify schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience collaborating and maintaining relationships across offices
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Insurable driving record
