We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our downstream partner out of Norco, LA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects, ensuring they meet technical specifications, budget, and timelines. You will be responsible for assisting the project manager and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery, adherence to safety standards, and continuous improvement of processes within the plant. Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Design & Implementation: Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and technical drawings to ensure project requirements are met. Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to implement changes or upgrades.
- Technical Support: Provide technical expertise during the design, construction, and commissioning phases of projects. Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with company safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential hazards.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Develop project budgets and track costs to ensure projects stay within financial constraints. Prepare cost estimates, monitor spending, and approve expenditures as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production, maintenance, procurement, and other departments to ensure seamless project integration with ongoing operations. Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including progress reports, engineering drawings, technical manuals, and as-built drawings.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve plant processes, equipment, and systems, and recommend capital projects to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with suppliers and contractors to source materials, equipment, and services required for project completion. Evaluate proposals and select vendors based on quality and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or process industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, chemical processes, and manufacturing systems.
- Proficiency in using project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project) and engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) regulations and other environmental health and safety (EHS) standards.
- Certifications: PMP certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Assist with on-site management to ensure project success
- Ensure project plan is moving forward to meet anticipated deadlines
- Responsible for RFI and submittal process
- Processes owner billings and project related accounting issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years' of experience as a project coordinator, project engineer, or project manager
- Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
