Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Power BI Analyst to join a leading manufacturing company based in Minnesota. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards to provide critical business insights and improve decision-making processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, production, and finance, to analyze data and deliver actionable insights that drive operational efficiency, cost reduction, and continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Maintain Power BI Reports and Dashboards: Create interactive and user-friendly Power BI reports and dashboards that provide valuable insights into key manufacturing processes, production efficiency, inventory levels, and financial performance.
- Data Integration and Transformation: Extract, clean, and integrate data from multiple sources such as ERP systems, SQL databases, and other business systems relevant to manufacturing operations.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze large datasets related to production, supply chain, inventory, and quality control to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders from various departments (Operations, Production, Supply Chain, Finance, and Quality Control) to understand reporting needs and translate them into actionable Power BI solutions.
- Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement: Monitor manufacturing KPIs (e.g., OEE, production yield, downtime) using Power BI to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. Provide insights to enhance process efficiency and reduce costs.
- Training and Support: Provide training to end-users on how to effectively use Power BI tools and reports. Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on Power BI within the organization.
- Automation and Optimization: Automate manual reporting processes using Power BI features such as scheduled data refreshes, DAX calculations, and Power Query.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of Power BI solutions, data models, and processes for future reference and governance compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in Power BI development, data analysis, and reporting, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and data (e.g., OEE, downtime, scrap rates, throughput, etc.).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Power BI (Power Query, DAX, Data Modeling, and Visualizations).
- Experience with data integration tools and techniques (e.g., SQL, ETL processes, API connections).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data analysis, macros).
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and manufacturing data structures.
- Familiarity with databases and query languages (SQL preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Understanding of data governance and data security best practices.
- Experience with other BI tools such as Tableau or QlikView.
