Their products range from high-performance valves to complete subsystems integrating electronic controls, actuators, and power conversion systems. They support critical applications for military aircraft, submarines, ships, satellites, and space vehicles.
Overview: The role focuses on the design and development of ruggedized electronics and enclosures, ensuring cost-effective and timely solutions that meet customer requirements. This includes involvement in all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept to production support, while collaborating with various teams such as engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance. Occasional travel may be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and develop ruggedized electronics and enclosures from scratch.
- Create CAD designs and interface with electrical engineers to align sizing and material selection.
- Manage and verify bills of materials.
- Perform or oversee preliminary analysis (hand calculations, FEA).
- Address technical and scheduling issues, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
- Create/review processes for assembly and testing, and ensure cost-effective, manufacturable designs.
- Apply GD&T to drawings, verify BOM accuracy, and handle non-conforming hardware.
- Lead design reviews, failure investigations, and support new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Engineering (advanced degree preferred).
- 6+ years of experience in electronics packaging, preferably in aerospace/defense.
- Proficiency in solving mechanical problems, CAD (preferably PTC CREO), and mechanical design principles.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Expertise in designing for high shock/vibration and thermal environments, and Mil-Std-810 testing.
