Purpose of Position:
This position will be responsible for coordinating support for a national transportation strategy with focus on optimizing internal transportation coverage, execution, carrier performance and cost management, and improved customer service. This includes managing a carrier strategy that optimizes service and cost; developing teams and individuals to successfully execute business objectives & strategies, and utilizes technology to develop and optimize processes and best practices. The Regional Director will have oversight of all Tricont enterprise transportation related services to include all Locations across the Region, Branch to Branch, and Globally as needed. This includes overseeing the Trucking Fleet for Del Monte Fresh Produce Distribution Centers & Mann Packing. Directly responsible for the daily operations of the Fleet, with the objective of providing the highest level of customer service and on-time performance, in a safe, legal, and fiscally responsible manner.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the development and roll out of Transportation work processes and training curriculum including standardized inbound and outbound workflows, communication, and quality control.
- Partners with Logistics, and Transportation group, the locations, and globally as needed, to ensure work processes and procedures are aligned with and supports current & future technology, as well as changes to organizational structure and workflow.
- Analyzes best practices and develops processes that improves efficiency across the Transportation Supply Chain. Responsible for aligning and supporting Transportation goals objectives across all channels.
- Develops and standardizes Transportation processes and procedures that align and support short- and long-term goals for the broader Supply Chain scope of business.
- People and Process leadership: implements and leads a regional organizational structure that supports business objectives; develops individuals to successfully execute the transportation strategies and initiatives, including succession plans for all critical roles within the extended functions.
- Acts as a point of contact and subject matter expert on procedural alignment with Logistics and Transportation group, the locations and globally as needed, to ensure Tricont Transportation is properly supporting and connected with all inter-departmental processes.
- Participate in the development, training, and implementation of new technology to ensure maximum value and efficiency.
- Partners with Procurement on the sourcing, contracting and management of domestic and international transportation service providers.
- Equipment procurement and or leasing tractors/trailers, and maintenance.
Minimum Skills Required:
- Bachelor's or associate degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Management, Logistics or related field is preferred; equivalent work experience is acceptable.
- Minimum of 7 years of transportation experience, with a demonstrated track record of progressive leadership responsibilities and continuous improvement; preferably experience with Transportation Management System (TMS) software and change management.
- Minimum of 5 years leadership experience, preferably with a specialization in private fleet management or regional fleet.
- Experience with DOT regulations
- Knowledge and Experience with ELD applications
- Experience interacting with drivers
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Logistics or related field
- Experience with McLeod Load Master.
- Prior use of Motive ELD.
- Deep knowledge of the Logistics Industry with corresponding certifications.
- Extensive Experience in logistic systems analysis, spreadsheet modeling and compilation of large data sets
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Advanced analytical skills
- Bilingual in Spanish would also be a plus.
