Position description:
· Oversee museum's financial operations.
· Work with Manager, Finance, to supervise all accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger.
· Take lead role in year-end audit and tax reporting, including physical inventory of retail stores.
· Cooperate closely with the museum’s retail stores on pricing and financial management.
· Oversee benefits administration, including health plan, dental, disability, workers comp, 403b, and flexible spending program.
· Manage human resources and insurance.
· Provide cash and debt management.
· Prepare and monitor museum operating budget and provide reporting and projections.
· Develop exhibition budgets with curatorial and registrarial staff.
· Report to the museum board on the operating budget.
· Review contracts and work with outside counsel.
· Negotiate building insurance policy and coordinate insurance claims.
· In consultation with staff, develop and implement fundraising and cost-cutting strategies.
