Our renewable energy client in Edison, New Jersey seeks a Manager of Accounting and Reporting. This role oversees the organization’s financial accounting and reporting cycle - requiring strong leadership skills, financial expertise, and attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data. This position will report directly to the CFO and works closely with upper management, in a fast-paced work environment.
Location: Hybrid – 3 days in office in Edison, NJ.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Maintain adherence to accounting standards, regulations, and laws, staying updated on changes and integrating necessary updates into accounting policies and procedures.
- Develop and enforce robust internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial data integrity, implementing and monitoring controls to manage financial risks.
- Oversee and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth and excellence, while promoting a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Conduct financial analyses to aid strategic decision-making, pinpoint areas for improvement, and enhance financial performance, interpreting data and presenting insights to senior management.
- Manage and coordinate external audits, preparing audit schedules and addressing auditor inquiries, ensuring audit readiness and resolving findings as needed.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize accounting processes for greater efficiency, identifying opportunities for automation and the integration of advanced accounting software solutions.
- Act as a liaison between finance/accounting and other departments, delivering financial information and analysis to support cross-functional projects and communicating results to senior management and stakeholders.
- Lead a dynamic team to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting processes, contributing to the overall financial success of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in accounting, with 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
