Job Overview - Linux Engineer
Pay up to $300,000 / $400,000 total compensation depending on experience and skills
We have an exciting opening at a leading global trading firm for a mid-senior level Linux Engineer to join their offices in Chicago, IL. As a successful candidate you will be working in a highly customized, bare metal environment ensuring the continuing efficient functioning of the trading floor. You will be building, designing, deploying, monitoring and operating proprietary tools to ensure the trading floor technologies continue to operate at breakneck speed. You will be using these proprietary tools to ensure the continued proficiency of the bare metal UNIX servers that the trading team relies upon for their success.
Your role:
- Tackle the life cycle of a server and build and deploy new solutions.
- Performance monitoring and managing the system capacity.
- Fix and analyze technical incidents, solve technical ad hoc problems.
- Lead our charge to intelligent automation.
- Be the connection between hardware and software.
- Research new technologies and solutions, implement them or build better.
Required skillsets
- Minimum 6 years experience designing, deploying and supporting large scale Linux/Unix server environments.
- Strong knowledge of Linux Kernel Internals.
- Strong Python coding skills - including automation proficiency.
- Experience within a high performance computer environment.
- Infrastructure-as-Code with an Ansible flavor.
