A leading copper mining operation in Arizona is seeking an experienced Chief Plant Engineer to oversee the performance, safety, and efficiency of critical process equipment and infrastructure. This role focuses on optimizing plant operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and optimize the performance of key plant equipment and assets.
- Investigate engineering issues, devise solutions, and oversee the implementation of both corrective and preventive measures.
- Conduct Root Cause Analyses for intricate problems and lead problem-solving efforts.
- Act as Project Manager or Technical Expert on diverse construction, expansion, and modification projects across the site.
- Oversee project lifecycle including drafting RFPs, selecting and managing engineering firms and construction contractors.
- Formulate and manage project budgets and schedules, assess risks, and guarantee project quality and regulatory compliance.
- Perform detailed inspections and maintenance of fixed assets such as tanks and structural assets.
- Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineering staff.
- Manage vendor contracts for the provision of services and equipment.
- Provide strategic guidance and advice on operational processes and compliance issues to the site management team.
- Participate in planning and budgeting for engineering departments.
- Other duties as requested by the manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the mining sector or a related heavy industrial environment, with a proven track record of leading engineering projects to successful completion.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and changing business needs, along with a strong aptitude for innovative problem-solving and strategic operational improvements.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of mentoring junior engineers and effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
