The Law Librarian will provide expert research and information management services to support attorneys and paralegals and oversee the operation, maintenance, and development of the legal library. This is a hybrid position. Candidates are required to work in the office three days a week. The preferred hours for this position are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PT.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Library Administration including collection development and resource access
- Legal and factual research including public records and corporate information searches
- Cite checking
- Coordinating access to and liaising with online services including Westlaw, Law 360, Accurint, VitalLaw, CNS Plus, Trellis
- Coordinating inhouse MCLE presentations and overseeing accreditation
- Preparing and presenting training sessions for attorneys and paralegals including sessions on new and developing tools such as generative artificial intelligence
- Managing the budget of the legal library and selecting resources that are cost-effective and essential to the needs of the firm
- Monitoring and advising the firm of developments in legal research and library science including technology
- Coordinating and overseeing certain Firm and Attorney Professional Listings
Education
Masters Degree in Library Science or equivalent degree in a related field
Experience
- 3-5 years’ research experience in a legal or corporate environment
- Knowledge of legal materials and electronic resources
- Experience in training and presenting to groups
- Experience managing budgets and selecting cost-effective resources
Skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
- Ability to identify and analyze complex legal research problems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
