Senior Mechanical Engineer
Our client has created a world-class product that is advancing how medical institutions analyze and diagnose tissue samples. Our client works with one of the top hospitals in the country. They are using automation, and cutting-edge robotic and optical technology to create a revolutionary imaging and analysis device.
We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer who has led/mentored a mechanical team that has taken a product from conception to production. In this role, you will help take the initiative in designing and selecting parts for the machine, as well as designing test fixtures. The candidate will also collaborate with other engineering groups such as electrical, optics, and software. This is a chance to grow your career at a rapidly growing startup.
Responsibilities:
- Design precision mechanical components for complex sub-systems that involve electromechanical, motion, and optical systems using SolidWorks.
- Generate drawings for parts and sub-assemblies.
- Involved in modeling and simulation of design components such as dynamic, kinematic, thermal, and structural.
- Build prototypes.
- Support production-level tasks (inspections, troubleshooting, testing)
- Source new contract manufacturers and negotiate existing contracts.
- Enhancing test benches for testing components
- Work with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines.
- Involved in sheet metal creation, and tooling to support production staff.
- Mentor junior engineers to help with technical growth and development.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience working on mechanical systems comprised of motors or electromechanical components.
- Design experience for Motion or Gantry systems
- Experience designing electromechanical, motion, or optical systems.
- Experience with precision mechanics
- Experience troubleshooting
- Experience managing projects from concept to production.
- Experience picking parts and working with contract manufacturers.
- Experience in the entire lifecycle from design phase to manufacturing/production.
- Experience with mechatronics is a huge plus (coding in C++ or controls engineering)
- Exposure to working with cross-functional teams such as electrical on PCB, wiring, and electrical components.
