Korn Ferry has partnered with our client in their search for a VP of Finance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all financial and management control systems. The primary focus is to provide timely, accurate, and adequate financial information to ensure the company optimizes its opportunities to achieve operational and financial goals. Organizes and directs the activities of accounting, financial reporting, cash management, accounts payable, vendor file maintenance, payroll, and tax initiatives. Will have direct input into departmental initiatives, leadership, people, and culture.
Essential Job Duties:
- Accountable for the overall accounting function, including reporting, internal controls, and policy implementation. Accountable for implementing and maintaining a thorough system of internal controls to effectively safeguard the company's assets.
- Responsible for ensuring that monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting is timely, accurate, complete, and compliant with GAAP. Responsible for the timely and efficient completion of the annual financial statement audit.
- Provide professional and timely management reports on variances, trends, and control standards & practices. Responsible for preparing cash flow forecasts, loan reports, performance reports, balance sheets, and inventory reports to provide CFO and Executive Management with timely, accurate, and pertinent information for decision-making.
- Responsible for the security, accuracy, completeness, backup, and integrity of all aspects of the general ledger. Maintains and documents adequate controls surrounding the general ledger.
- Collaborate with the CFO to build and develop highly engaged, superior-performing teams through disciplined recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training/development, and performance management processes and practices.
- Provide direction, supervision, and coaching to improve performance gaps through accountability. Foster cross-department development of team to support growth and strength for sustaining a top performing organization.
- Record all activity to maintain up-to-date general ledger cash accounts and monitor all bank balances through online access daily. Oversee the monthly bank reconciliation process. Ensure that proper internal controls surrounding the treasury management function, including segregation of duties, are established and followed. Track and communicate weekly cash status. Oversee the organization and processing of all operating accounts and escrow account deposit transactions.
- Actively guide and support the performance management process, i.e., performance evaluations, goal setting and assessment, departmental expectations, and supporting the management team in aligning employees' performance with the company’s overall goals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- GAAP accounting expertise.
- Strong general ledger software experience and understanding.
- MS Office software mastery with a strong concentration in Excel.
- Experience implementing and testing internal controls.
- Strong understanding of cash flow and forecasting cash flow.
- Strong business acumen with in-depth knowledge of real estate development, financial planning, and accounting.
- Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and personal integrity.
- Strong management capabilities with experience managing people, department operations, budget preparation, and pro forma management.
- Flexible and creative problem solver with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be organized and accurate with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to perform various tasks while subject to interruption and to perform work per schedules and timelines.
- Ability to plan and organize many and varied work assignments.
- Ability to articulate financial proposals and solutions succinctly and convincingly.
Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. An active CPA license is preferred.
Experience/Background:
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in accounting with at least 5+ years in a supervisory role. Public accounting and/or audit experience preferred.
- Experience in real estate development is desired.
Salary Range: $175-200K + bonus
