POSITION OVERVIEW:
ASE is assisting a member as it hires a Mechanical Engineer to design machine tools. The job responsibilities include design and analysis activities for machine builds, mechanical components, and assemblies from concept through production.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
· Lead the mechanical design of machines/machine tooling to meet customer design specifications, removing complexity and enhancing reliability and safety.
· Use, maintain, and/or improve standard components to meet all applicable specifications in machine/machine tooling designs.
· New designs and improved standards to conserve space, manufactured at the lowest cost, with minimum amount of Engineering time.
· Evaluate inside/outside design capabilities, supply accurate information and support documentation to keep designs on time and to customer specifications.
· Coordinate line-up meetings with Controls Project Engineer and Coordinators assigned to job prior to build.
· Provide all required documentation to customer as scheduled for approval.
· Obtain competitive quotations as required. Issue requisitions, taking in account long lead time items to keep project on schedule.
· Estimate Engineering hours, accountable to meet these hours as well as machine budgets as quoted.
· Work efficiently with shop personnel in the build, startup, debug, and support the run-off of machine.
· Provide all required documentation to customer at time of machine shipment and at customer acceptance.
· Support Service Technicians and Training personnel during machine startup in customer plant.
· Provide support to the Sales & Parts Department as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· 3 – 5 years of experience in the machine tool or related industry.
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, master’s degree preferred.
· Experience with engines or powertrains is a plus.
· AutoCAD (2-D) and 3-D Solid Works. 2-D EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
· Strong analytical skills: Able to compile data into useable form, recognize patterns in data, information, or events, draw logical conclusions, and make recommendations for action.
· Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and possess strong organizational skills.
· Strong communication skills both written and oral.
