Our client is looking to fill the role of Freelance Production Manager Women's Apparel. The Manager will be responsible for assisting the Production Team with production and delivery-related tasks for RTW under the guidance of Senior Manager. This team member will serve as the primary point of contact, communicating with all cross-functional teams and categories (knit, woven, and sweaters) and external vendors. They will closely monitor production from PO placement to receipt in the warehouse. The Manager will maintain support for large-scale, fast-moving seasonal production, adhering to operational timelines while focusing on efficient leadership across RTW. This role is onsite in their NYC office. Looking for someone to start early Nov for at least 6 months. Great opportunity to get into a top fashion brand.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain communication with overseas suppliers and offices regarding deliveries, delays, open issues, etc.
- Collaborate with factories to receive and update material content in the system.
- Work with vendors to mitigate delay risks and monitor on-time delivery.
- Communicate delays to Merch/CMP teams weekly with thorough analysis.
- Coordinate with PD/Materials teams to ensure open issues are properly tracked and resolved promptly.
- Ensure accurate information is entered and adopted in PLM by collaborating with merch & PD teams before any PO placement (e.g., correct deliveries, costing, and allocation).
- Communicate with vendors to obtain the most up-to-date delivery dates.
- Report delivery issues with detailed information.
- Review production reports and investigate late orders.
- Communicate delivery status/changes to Merch.
- Evaluate delay requests, recommend desired ship modes, and ensure vendors follow through.
- Work with Merch and factories to secure deliveries for Immediate Needs/GSO Samples and provide weekly updates to the Marketing/PR team.
- Negotiate final costing with vendors.
Required Qualifications:
- Outstanding project management skills.
- 6-7 years of prior experience in fashion product management, production, or project management preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple work streams in parallel.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (especially Excel – VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
- Experience with purchasing systems and PLM (a plus); SAP experience ideal.
- Experience in garment production is highly preferable.
- Strong knowledge of operational excellence and research skills (applicable in any company or industry).
- Proficiency in PC skills, MS Office, and SAP.
- Highly adaptable with interactions and process systems.
