Early-Career Faculty Positions (Non-tenure track) at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence with Application in Human Health
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the ability to transform society and healthcare. There is no area where AI can achieve a bigger impact than in science and medicine. Advances in computing power, learning algorithms, big data, and other technologies have the potential to make the world a happier, healthier place. Schmidt Sciences and Mount Sinai have partnered to ensure that the most brilliant minds in machine learning can focus on the development of Artificial Intelligence for Human Health.
The Windreich Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is the foremost department of its kind within a medical school. Our goal is to make the tools and techniques of AI available to all Mount Sinai researchers and physicians throughout the Health System’s eight hospitals and 400-plus ambulatory clinics.
To build a world-class research program for AI- and data-driven innovation in human health, the AI Department is seeking five (5) outstanding candidates for early-career faculty positions at Instructor level with an excellent track record in artificial intelligence, and machine learning to join its faculty as a Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Human Health Fellow in 2024.
Our aim is to embed these talented early-career machine-learning scientists across our health system, focusing on clinically relevant questions. We aim to reduce health disparities in our communities, improve patient outcomes, and propel science forward to new frontiers.
Resources at Mount Sinai
Through its scientific computing and data partners, the Department and Institute offer candidates seamless and secure access to state-of-the-art research, clinical data, and operations with vast amounts of multimodal health data and large, diverse patient populations.
Our Department benefits from a new state-of-the-art facility located right in the center of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai campus. This facility will house all AI research initiatives within the Health System and will also contain large supercomputers and cloud computing database capabilities.
Candidate profiles
- Ph.D. in machine learning or closely related fields
- Exceptional Ph.D. candidates close to defense advanced computational training are also encouraged to apply.
- Successful candidates have a strong publication record and demonstrate scientific excellence and outstanding achievements applying advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence in human health.
