Position Summary:
The Estimator will play a pivotal role in the preconstruction phase, providing accurate cost estimates for mission-critical electrical projects. This individual will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other key stakeholders to ensure all bids are competitive and align with project requirements and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical systems in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, hospitals, and industrial plants.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine labor, material, and time requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and accurate cost data.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to gather project-specific information and clarify scope of work.
- Conduct site visits as needed to evaluate project conditions and verify bid accuracy.
- Assist in value engineering and project scheduling to optimize cost-efficiency and project timelines.
- Monitor industry trends, labor costs, and material prices to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions.
- Present and explain estimates to clients, management, and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Estimator in the electrical contracting industry, preferably with a focus on complex large-scale projects
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and components, with a proven ability to estimate large-scale electrical installations.
- Proficiency in estimating software (such as Accubid, McCormick, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel within the Midwestern U.S. as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience estimating for data centers, healthcare, commercial buildings, large residential projects, or other mission-critical environments.
- Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) and local building codes.
