JOB DESCRIPTION
Pitaya Foods’ Global Sourcing Manager will be responsible for the management of contracted frozen-fruit programs with overseas vendors, manage communication with suppliers, align and update shipping schedules in accordance with demand needs, coordinate packaging and quality parameters with suppliers and, in general, assist the VP of Sourcing with the search, vetting and contracting for internationally sourced pre-packed and bulk ingredients. The Global Sourcing Manager will have the goal of ensuring on-time scheduling and shipment of product, improving current supplier offers in terms of quality and cost and to find/build direct relationships with processors for some key ingredients in specific regions.
The primary objective for this position is to assist the Global Sourcing team in maintaining and expanding our supplier network and product range throughout global regions to support our Sales Team efforts.
The Global Sourcing Manager will work closely with and support the Sales, Procurement, R&D, QA&FS and Operations teams.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Manage, develop, and maintain relationships with overseas suppliers
· Issue contracts in the form of Blanket Contracts and/or Individual Purchase Orders or Call-Offs
· Manage contracts and existing balances, while coordinating closely with Operations and Sales Teams to schedule required on-going shipments
· Obtain regular updates from suppliers on crop development, production and contract progress, packaging arrival, etc. and communicate accordingly to various stakeholders
· Develop estimated COGS for potential new products, checking estimates versus real COGS periodically and updating estimated COGS seasonally
· Lead and/or assist on strategic sourcing activities including RFI/RFP execution, negotiations, supplier selection, contracting, delivery and contractual compliance
· Be the liaison between our Graphics Design Team and suppliers through the artwork approval and maintenance processes
· Assist QA team on investigations about out-of-spec, damaged or short-sent materials
· Coordinate inbound samples shipped from abroad by air, ocean or land
· Maintain clear communication with Finance team for supplier payments to occur in a timely manner and/or help resolve discrepancies on invoices, etc.
· Become familiar with varying product varieties and seasonality.
· Collect Quality documentation from suppliers on all materials, and ensure information is complete.
· Create and maintain an internal vendor directory with material offering
· Request monthly raw materials and packaging material inventory.
· Become familiar with varying product varieties and seasonality, maintain seasonality chart for as required by Sales Team
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study to the role.
• Minimum four years’ experience in food or drug related industry in a sourcing related position.
• Experience using Netsuite is a plus.
• Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and/or Vietnamese is a plus.
• Understanding of HACCP, GMPs, GFSI quality and food safety requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively through a team-oriented approach with employees, customers, and suppliers in a multi-cultural global environment.
• Intrinsic motivation to seek opportunities for COGS savings and project optimization for the business financial health.
• Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills in situations where only limited standardizations exist.
• Able to be self-directed with minimal need for active supervision, a persistent nature and demonstrates a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to travel internationally as required.
• Candidates based in San Diego will be prioritized.
