MAU is hiring a Principal Plumbing System Designer for Fluor in Greenville, SC. As a Principal Plumbing System Designer, you will provide essential technical knowledge and perform design work and assignments of advanced complexity. This is a contract, long-term assignment.
Shift Information:
Required Education and Experience:
- 15+ years of work-related experience designing plumbing systems
- Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards
- Job-related technical knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards
- Significant experience providing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services on large industrial projects
- Proficiency in executing large engineering projects utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools in a multi-discipline environment and the design of HVAC or plumbing systems
- 3D modeling of HVAC equipment and ductwork; development of 2D duct plans from the 3D model
- Development of 2D sections, details, and HVAC schedules
General Requirements:
- Proficient communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with audiences that may include project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes, and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs
Preferred Requirements:
- Associate degree in a related technical field of study
- Experience with the design of systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of ASME NQA-1
- Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
- Practical field experience
- EPC project experience for the following industries: US Department of Energy or other US Federal Government Agency; nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program; manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency using Intergraph Smart3D (S3D) software with 3+ years of experience
Essential Functions:
- Serve as an Area Lead Designer providing guidance/supervision to designers
- Prepare and check designs of advanced complexity utilizing 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) automation tools
- Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients
- Execute work in compliance with the Project Quality Plan and procedures; work following the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines
- Perform bulk material takeoff analysis and tabulations
- Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting, including review of vendor submittals
- Provide technical support to activities related to construction administration, including response to construction requests for information and field changes
- Perform other tasks as assigned
